Situated on Laxfirth Voe, this is a secluded traditional stone built croft house with a new conservatory extension and open plan living area with wood burning stove. On an organic croft this 2-bed accommodation is surrounded by gardens and sheep, yet is only 7 miles from the facilities in Lerwick. Step out onto heathery hills and enjoy the magnificent views.
Situated on Laxfirth Voe and only 7 miles from Lerwick, secluded self-catering accommodation is provided in the refurbished crofthouse, a traditional stone-built ‘but and ben’ with a new conservatory extension and open plan living area. There is underfloor heating supplied from a heat pump and a wood-burning stove. We have Wi-Fi broadband connection but no television.
The balcony above the living area has 2 twin beds and a chest of drawers, while downstairs there is a wardrobe, and a futon sofa, which folds out for a double bed. The kitchen corner has a new fridge freezer and combination microwave oven and there is also a double gas burner, iron and board and all dishes, cutlery, etc. The bathroom has a shower, new washing machine and a composting toilet.
North Hamarsland is a certified organic holding of 41 hectares, most of which is heather hill with grass in-by for lambing and cutting for silage. We have: 35 Shetland ewes and their lambs; Two polytunnels and gardens providing salad stuff and vegetables; Organic vegetables and salads available in season; and fresh organic lamb can also be supplied. Ask to see our organic fleeces and yarns.
The conservatory enjoys a westerly aspect. There are also places to sit in the garden; you choose according to the wind direction! Alternatively, take walks through the heather clad hills or relax at the ‘banks broo’ to look for otters.
For directions to North Hamarsland, follow the A970 from the north end of Lerwick, and turn north at the Laxfirth junction in the Tingwall valley.
