Public Transport Around Shetland

Shetland has an excellent public transport infrastructure, which visitors can use to explore every corner of the islands.

Around Shetland By Bus

Bus services within Shetland are provided by Zetland Transport Partnership and operated by a number of different operators.

Visit the ZetTrans website for Shetland bus timetables and other transport information.

Shetland Inter-Island Flights

The inter-island flight service operated by Direct Flight makes it easy to go 'island-hopping' to some of Shetland’s more remote locations. Flights depart from Tingwall airport (just outside Lerwick), and fly to Fair Isle, Foula, Out Skerries and Papa Stour.

Shetland Inter Island Ferries

Shetland Islands Council operates an inter-island ferry service linking the larger islands with the Shetland Mainland. The services are fast and frequent, and passenger fares are nominal.

Drive-on/drive-off services operate to the islands of Bressay, Whalsay, Yell, Unst, Fetlar and Skerries. Passenger services operate to Papa Stour, Foula and Fair Isle.
